​​​​​​​Mini Ray

The Mini Rays is our introductory competitive group within the swim club and where swimmers begin to embark on their competitive swimming journey. A lot of firsts are experienced during a swimmer’s stint as a member of the Mini Ray program, from learning how to swim all four swim strokes, to attending their first swim meet. Our MiniRays are ~10 years old or younger and in their 1st season of competitive swimming.

Program

  • Development of competitive stroke technique (Backstroke, Freestyle, Breaststroke, Butterfly).
  • Development of competitive swim skills (Streamline position, Turns, Starts).
  • Emphasis on developing kicking ability.
  • Introduction to proper lane etiquette and use of pace clock during swim sessions.
  • Introduction to swim meet etiquette & behaviour (Warm-Up, Marshalling, Pre/Post race talks with coach).



​​​​​​​Mighty Ray

The Mighty Rays is one of our developmental groups within the swim club. Swimmers are ~10 years old or younger, in their 1st or 2nd season of competitive swimming and attend local competitions. Our Mighty Rays will gain valuable racing experience at swim meets as they attempt to achieve a Swim Alberta Festival time standard. Winter/Summer Festival is an exciting 12&U Provincial level competitions held in January/June

  • Continual improvement of competitive swim skills (Streamline position, Turns, Starts)
  • Emphasis on developing ability to kick (Flutter, Dolphin, Breast)

  • Introduction to swim meet etiquette & behaviour (Warm-Up, Marshalling, Pre/Post race talks with coach).



​​​​​​​Manta Ray

The Manta Rays is one of developmental groups within the swim club. Swimmers are ~12 years of age or older and will focus on improving their strokes & skills so they can perform at their best while attending local competitions. The Manta Rays is a group that attempts to strike a balance between working hard improving in the pool and socializing with teammates & making friends.

Program

  • Continual improvement of competitive stroke technique (Backstroke, Freestyle, Breaststroke, Butterfly)
  • Continual improvement of competitive swim skills (Streamline position, Turns, Starts)
  • Emphasis on developing ability to kick (Flutter, Dolphin, Breast)
  • Introduction to proper lane etiquette and use of pace clock during swim sessions.
  • Introduction to swim meet etiquette & behaviour (Warm-Up, Marshalling, Pre/Post race talks with coach).



​​​​​​​Eagle Ray

The Eagle Rays are swimmers age ~10-13 years old who attend local competitions and are working towards achieving their first Festival time standard. This group will work closely with experienced members of our coaching staff who will help the swimmers develop the best swim strokes & skills and establish appropriate training habits to ensure they are set up for long term success in the pool.

  • Continual improvement of competitive stroke technique (Backstroke, Freestyle, Breaststroke, Butterfly)
  • Continual improvement of competitive swim skills (Streamline position, Turns, Starts)
  • Emphasis on developing ability to kick (Flutter, Dolphin, Breast, Underwater Dolphin)
  • Introduction to Individual Medley training
  • Introduction to Dryland training
  • Introduction to Mental Skills (Goal setting)

The Tiger Rays is a group within our competitive program for swimmers 10-12 years old who will be attending Winter/Summer Festival. A very strong emphasis will be made to develop the most technically sound swim strokes & competitive swim skills as well as establishing appropriate training habits to ensure our Tiger Rays are set up for long term success in the pool.

  • Continual improvement of competitive stroke technique (Backstroke, Freestyle, Breaststroke, Butterfly)
  • Continual improvement of competitive swim skills (Streamline position, Turns, Starts)
  • Strong emphasis on developing kicking ability (Flutter, Dolphin, Breast, Underwater Dolphin
  • Continual improvement & development on Individual Medley swimming (200/400m)
  • Introduction to Dryland training
  • Introduction to Mental Skills (Goal setting & Building confidence)
