The Strathcona County Swim Club is a volunteer organization.

All members of the Strathcona County Swim Club are required to earn volunteer points. The amount of the points is based on the level of training of your swimmer(s).

SRays Hosted Swim Meets

The Strathcona County Swim Club is a volunteer organization that will host the following swim meets during the swim season:

These swim meets provide an opportunity for your swimmer to achieve success in the pool, while providing operational revenue to our swim club. To guarantee that we maintain high quality swim meets for all swim clubs attending, we require a large number of volunteers. Each competitive member family must take responsibility to do their share is helping run successful swim meets

Strathcona County Swim Club Board Member

​​​​​​​The Strathcona County Swim Club is governed by a volunteer board of directors. Board meetings are held monthly with various administrative tasks required throughout the month dependant on the board position held. 

The Board consist of the following positions:

Board members will receive 3 points per month for serving on the board.

Administration Positions

Additional roles are required to assist with the administration of the swim club. These include: 

Social Media Administrator – 2 points per month

This position is responsible for maintaining the club’s on-line presence. This includes creating and posting content to inform, celebrate and advertise the SRAYS. 

Audit Committee Member – 4 points

This position is responsible for conducting a review of the club’s financial statements and records, as required annually under the Alberta Society’s Act. 

Travel Coordinator – 3 points per meet

This position is responsible for coordinating hotel and travel bookings for travel meets.


Events Volunteer

To foster our swim team community, several team events will be held through-out the year. These may include a Swim Season Kick-off, Holiday Season Celebration and Year-End Wrap-Up. These events require helpers. 

The following is a sample of the positions and points to be earned for volunteering at an event: 

Event Set-Up/Clean-Up Positions – 1 point 

Event Activity Leaders – 2 points


Designated Travel Meet Chaperone

As an integral component of competitive swimming, Strathcona County Swim Club recognizes that travel may enhance the curriculum and training of swimmers. Team travel that does not include parent supervision must be supervised by chaperones. 

The primary responsibility of the chaperone is to supervise and assist the swimmers and to assist coaches with organising the swimmers during travel, at the hotel and at the pool. While travelling, the chaperone is responsible for the swimmers whenever they are not on the pool deck, and providing appropriate snacks while at the pool and meals when they are at the hotel. The chaperone shall be available to assist the athletes and coaches at all times during the travel. 

A chaperone will receive 5 points per day for serving as the designated travel meet chaperone.


​​​​​​​Policy Administration

The points system is in place to ensure that all SRAYS families share in the responsibility of ensuring that our club runs smoothly. Points assigned to each volunteer position will be disclosed at the time of job sign-up. All volunteer points must be earned by July 15. 

Please note that every effort has been made by the Board to clearly outline volunteer requirements; however, the above is subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances. If this occurs, as much notice as possible will be provided to families.
