How does my child join SilverRays?

New swimmers are required to complete a swim assessment before joining.

The coaching team uses the assessment to determine which training group is the best fit based on your swimmer's skills and abilities.

Assessments are free.

SilverRays welcomes new swimmers throughout the year, subject to space availability.

How often will my child swim?

It depends on their group.

Training ranges from approximately 3 swims per week for younger competitive swimmers to 7 swims per week plus dryland for older swimmers.

Your swimmer's training calendar will show their specific schedule.

Can I pay monthly?

Yes. Families can choose from the following payment plans:

Annual: October 1

3 instalments: October 1, January 1 & April 1

10 monthly instalments: October 1 through July 1

Additional charges may apply for swim meets, additional training, team travel and equipment.

Do competitive swimmers have to fundraise?

Yes, all competitive swimmers have a fundraising commitment.

The amount depends on the swimmer's training group. Fundraising helps keep training fees as low as possible.

Fundraising opportunities may include:

• Bottle drives
• Raffles
• FlipGive
• Other club fundraising initiatives

The Fundraising Coordinator provides families with information about opportunities throughout the season.

Families can contact the Treasurer to pay the fundraising commitment directly instead of participating in fundraising activities.

Do parents have to volunteer?

Yes. SilverRays is a volunteer organization and every competitive family is expected to contribute.

Each swimmer has a required number of volunteer points based on their training group. Each competitive family must provide at least one volunteer for every swim meet hosted by SilverRays.

These meets are an important source of revenue for the club and require a large number of volunteers to operate successfully.

• Point values are provided when volunteer positions are posted.
• Outstanding volunteer points are charged at $12 per point.
• The deadline to complete the required points is July 15.

Does my swimmer have to attend every swim meet?

No. Meet participation depends on your swimmer's training group, coach recommendations and the specific meet.

Your lead coach will provide information about appropriate meets.

What happens if we decide to leave the club?

Families can withdraw at any time by completing the required withdrawal form.

Refunds and amounts owing are calculated according to the club's withdrawal policy and may include training fees, non-refundable fees, fundraising and volunteer commitments.
